Most people have one initial treatment and return for a further treatment (usually every few months) once the facial muscles have regained their strength.

Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injection, your doctor may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream to further minimize discomfort.

Everyone reacts differently. Some people can see improvements after a couple of days, while others may not see the full effect for a couple of weeks.

The effect should last for between three and six months, after which your muscles will regain their strength. You can, of course, return for regular treatments.

Following the treatment, you may experience some slight redness around the treatment area but most patients are in and out of the physician’s office with minimal or no downtime. Usually, you may return to your daily routine immediately.

Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include temporary skin reactions such as localized pain, tenderness, swelling, redness, or bleeding/bruising at the injection site.
