Promising to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and improve skin tone, I couldn’t wait to try it!

Dr Hew Yin Keat, founder and medical director of M∙A∙C Clinic, is one of a handful of aesthetic doctors I repeatedly return to in Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, Malaysia (the world) has seen a rise in clinics that feel more like production lines than medical establishments. Pushing patients in and out as fast as possible and selling packages without closely monitoring results is not what I want. Despite the mass marketing and commercialisation of the health industry, Dr Hew remains steadfast in his approach. He always takes time to explain procedures and options in detail and has not once tried to sell me a package ‘deal’. He provides an in-depth consultation and follow-up, adjusting plans for individualised needs and outcomes. So, when trying the new CoolPeel treatment, I felt 100% comfortable and well-informed in his hands.

What is a CoolPeel Treatment?

Dr Hew explained that the CoolPeel is like a baby CO2 fraction laser treatment. I did that about five years ago and loved the results, but not the two-week downtime! The CoolPeel mildly-ablative fractional CO2 laser treatment targets the deeper layers of the skin. The customised laser pulse character achieves good collagen stimulation, improving skin texture and tone. However, the downtime is far less, and the results are significant.

Who is CoolPeel Suitable For?

I’m delighted to discover that CoolPeel is especially effective on Caucasian skin. Caucasian skin ages quicker than other skin tones, so at least there’s tech to help. The treatment is ideal for those seeking to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, improve skin tone, and generally desire a more youthful appearance.

What is the Procedure?

I began with a consultation with Dr Hew. He explained the technology in-depth and answered all of my questions. Photos were taken of my face using a new camera that converts the images into a 3D model. It’s pretty cool to see all the features and analyse the skin up close.

Next, a nurse cleansed my face and applied numbing cream, which was left on for about 20 minutes to be effective. I rested in a cool room with a soft blanket, so took advantage of the rare few minutes of quiet for a quick nap.

Once the numbing cream had been removed, Dr Hew began the treatment. Goggles were placed over my eyes, and a laser applied in sections across my entire face. Meanwhile, the nurse used a suction device to draw the burnt air away, making for a much more pleasant experience. The procedure (minus the time for the numbing cream to activate) took less than 15 minutes.

Does it Hurt?

I didn’t find CoolPeel painful, but I surely wouldn’t want to have it without the numbing cream! It’s a hot sensation, but each blast lasts only a second.

What is the Aftercare for CoolPeel?

It’s recommended to moisturise regularly after the CoolPeel treatment and avoid make-up and sunscreen for 48 hours (of course, you need to stay out of the sun, too!). Anything that causes heat, such as intense exercise and saunas, should also be avoided. After two days, you can wear sunscreen and make-up (although make-up doesn’t look so great in the peeling phase), but refrain from using harsh skincare products. Lastly, don’t pick or scratch and moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!

What is the Downtime?

Immediately following the treatment, I have a light flush below my eyes, barely visible. However, about two hours afterwards, my whole face became red like a sunburn, had a rough texture and was quite itchy. This lasted for about two days. I used ice packs to cool my face, which gave good relief. On the third day, the redness disappeared, and my skin began to peel. It was a very fine peel with tiny pieces of dry skin. On the fourth day, my skin was just about smooth again, and on the fifth day, all the dry skin was gone, and my skin looks fresh.

What are CoolPeel Results?

It’s only a week post-treatment that I’m recording my thoughts, but I’m very happy with the results. My skin looks fresh and has a nice glow. Online articles say CoolPeel results are gradual and progressive, with noticeable improvements over several weeks, and that the full effects may take several months to fully develop (something to look forward to!).

How often should you do CoolPeel?

The frequency of CoolPeel treatments depends on individual skin concerns and goals. Typically, a series of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. CoolPeel can be combined with other aesthetic treatments, but it is important to consult with your skincare professional to ensure compatibility and avoid over-treating the skin.

How Much Does CoolPeel Cost?

CoolPeel at M∙A∙C Clinic in Starhill Kuala Lumpur costs RM1288.

CoolPeel Review

CoolPeel is a fantastic option for those looking to rejuvenate their skin with minimal downtime. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

M∙A∙C∙ Clinic at The Starhill
UG 15A &16B, The Starhill
Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
https://www.mac-clinic.my
+6 012 928 2851 / 03- 2110 1781 / 03- 2110 2781

M∙A∙C∙ Clinic at The Starhill Operating Hours
10 am – 6 pm

Author: Monica Tindall

Published Date: 11 November 2024

Original Article: https://www.theyumlist.net/2024/11/coolpeel-review-kuala-lumpur-mini-co2-laser.html

Monica Tindall One of my 50th birthday presents was a CoolPeel laser treatment at M∙A∙C Clinic at Starhill.
