Lipolysis is a non-surgical injection therapy that reduces localised subcutaneous fat deposits and decreases subcutaneous adipocytes (fat cells). It is not a method of weight loss but rather a treatment for body sculpting or contouring of fat deposits that are impossible to target as well as not affected with diet or exercise. The injected active agent is phosphatidylcholine (PPC), a lecithin product produced by soybeans. Phosphatidylcholine is found in every cell of the human body (cell membranes), and is produced by the body itself. This substance mainly affects the metabolic process and causes the fat cell walls to dissolve and is eliminated by the body’s metabolic process. By reducing the number of fat cells in the area, the amount of fat stored in the area is reduced.
