The Cutera Excel safely and effectively treats both tiny superficial face veins and deeper blue leg veins on both men and women of all skin tones. The Cutera Excel delivers pulses of light energy, which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel that is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be.
It is recommended for treatment of the following:
How long will a treatment session take?
Laser treatment varies depending on the size and extent of the area being treated.
Is laser vein removal permanent?
Studies of Cutera Excel laser vein removal indicate that most of the veins are permanently destroyed. However, in some rare cases where a certain percentage of the veins are injured, but not completely destroyed, will reopen or develop new veins. Therefore, you may require more treatments depending on the severity of the condition.
Is treatment painful?
Most patients describe the treatment as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. The treatment sensation is compared to the "snap" of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required although you may request local anesthesia for sensitive areas. Cooling gel pads are usually applied before and after the treatment and a cooling gel is used during the procedure.
How many treatments are needed before I see results?
Generally, it takes approximately 2 to 3 treatments, at monthly intervals, to effectively treat the veins. Usually 3 treatments will be sufficient to achieve maximal benefit for vein therapy.
What is the recovery period following a treatment?
Within a few minutes after the treatment, the treated area will usually become somewhat red and puffy. This reaction usually subsides within a few hours although some mild redness may persist for up to 2 days. You can return to your normal activities immediately.
What are the possible side effects and unwanted risks?
Some initial redness or local swelling is not uncommon, but it usually lasts only a few hours or days. In rare cases, some patients may experience bruising and blistering.
Can people with different skin tones/colours be treated with the Cutera Excel Laser?
Yes, people of all skin types and tones can be treated. However, darker skin tones require more treatments.
